Models
or miniatures when destined for film and TV are a
different prospect to display models where
accuracy to scale is the most important factor.
Knowing what is going to sell the model through a
camera lens counts for so much when building a
successful model set or foreground miniature.
There are few productions with enough time or
money to build exact 360º miniature replicas.
Digital mattes are used more frequently to replace model shots but there is still a place for the traditional skills and tricks of the modelmaker, especially when enhanced by digital post production techniques.

Models
can still compare favourably with digital mattes
both on terms of quality and cost but they
require forward planning and experience to make
the shot work.
Our experience of CAD/CAM design and automated production can take modelmaking to another level. We can produce accurate and cost effective models in a fraction of the time that it takes to produce the whole thing by hand.
Computer controlled production techniques may breathe new life into a dying art.
